Harbour Hotels set to expand further as £32 million development is given go-ahead in Torquay
One of the UK’s leading lifestyle hotel groups, Harbour Hotels, is set to continue its ambitious expansion, after planning was approved for a £32 million development in Torquay. Having submitted plans to transform Torquay’s iconic marina, with the addition of a luxury new hotel, spa and restaurant, consent has now been granted to restore and change the use of the historic Pavilion and its surrounding area.
A crucial boost for Torquay, the scheme will include a multi-storey 60 bedroom luxury Harbour Hotel, a five and 11-storey block of 43 residential apartments, ground floor restaurants and retail space.
The Pavilion will be restored and transformed to house the hotel’s impressive reception, an indulgent Harbour Spa, restaurant, bar and function room, with an innovative adjoining link to the 60-bedroom new build. Representing a major milestone in regenerating the marina and world-class waterfront, the development will boost tourism and create jobs for the region.
In addition to the Harbour Hotel and residential development, a new harbour walkway will be introduced, as well as the provision of 289 car parking spaces, including 74 at Cary Green, a new Marina office and berth holder facilities, the erection of a dock masters office and associated landscaping, supporting economic growth and the rejuvenation of this historic area of Torquay.
